Giovanni Battista Piranesi didn’t use Photoshop, nor Illustrator—Learn to “see” space in this exciting debut course that offers an exciting opportunity to learn how to translate ‘natural views’ into drawing. Utilize drawing techniques demonstrated in a classroom lecture prior to venturing out into New York City for onsite sessions. Explore seeing space using three main techniques: pencil/graphite, pen-and-ink, and watercolor. This workshop will be instructed by Roy Pachecano, Aia, Msred at the Pratt Manhattan Center.

Learn to draw the face of the Buddha according to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition the way it has been done for centuries.
Receive an overall introduction to the art of Tibetan thangka painting (traditional Buddhist scroll paintings) with a visit to the Rubin museum. Engage in a focused meditation, and a hear a brief lecture on the traditions and symbolism related to Tibetan art.
Carmen Mensink, an internationally renowned painter of thangkas, will guide you to draw your own portrait of the Buddha. The workshop is suitable for everyone, including beginners with no previous drawing experience.
